Urban Data Meets
Minimalist Design
Every city has a story written in its streets
The Story
CityOutlines was born from a simple observation: street networks are more than just navigation tools—they're the fingerprints of cities. Each intersection, each curve, each boulevard tells a story of urban evolution, planning decisions, and cultural identity.
We started by exploring European cities, fascinated by how Vienna's Ringstraße differs from Barcelona's grid, how Amsterdam's canals create organic patterns, and how Paris's boulevards radiate from historic centers. Each map became a study in urban cartography and visual design.
Our philosophy is simple: strip away the noise, focus on the essential, and let the streets speak for themselves. No clutter, no unnecessary details—just pure geometric beauty rendered in clean, minimalist style.
The Process
Every map starts with real OpenStreetMap data—the collective effort of millions of contributors worldwide. We process this data to extract street networks, preserving the authentic character of each city.
Then comes the design. We apply carefully chosen color palettes and minimal styling that honors both the data and the aesthetic. The result is artwork that's as accurate as it is beautiful.
The Mission
We believe beautiful design should be accessible to everyone. That's why all our maps are free to download for personal use. Whether you're decorating your home, remembering a place you love, or simply appreciating urban design, these maps are yours to use.
