Durrës Street Map Poster

Few street maps trace as much history as this portrait of Durrës, Albania’s ancient Adriatic port. The old town clusters around the vast Roman Amphitheatre, one of the largest in the Balkans, while the surviving Byzantine and Venetian walls and the squat Venetian Tower mark the medieval edge of the city. From here the streets bend toward the water along Rruga Taulantia, the seafront road that follows the curve of the harbour past the busy port of Durrës.

What gives this city map its character is the meeting of dense historic lanes and the long Adriatic promenade that runs south toward the resort beaches. The grid loosens as it nears the coast, the avenues opening to the sea, so the printed layout reads as a clear graphic of a town shaped by both antiquity and tourism.
